Motorola has unveiled its next-generation Moto X smartphone in India, and you can buy one midnight onwards, for Rs 31,999. The phone has the looks of a premium smartphone. You get a 5.2-inch full HD AMOLED display with Corning Glass 3 protection and running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat version. It packs the Snapdragon 801 CPU with 2 GB RAM offering a mere 16 GB space only.
But as we mentioned earlier, where the Moto X scores is its finishing and looks. The refreshed model feels lighter at 144 grams and slimmer is as well. Loaded with 2300mAh battery, this single-SIM phone comes with a 13 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera.
At this price, the competition rungs up the high-end ladder, which ideally shouldn't be Motorola's game play. Especially when one considers that Samsung Galaxy S4, Nexus 5 and Sony Xperia Z1 Compact are available at same price point. The fact that Moto X does not get storage expandable option makes the overall proposition worse.
The buyers who were eagerly waiting for the release of Moto X are already raising a hue and cry on the company's Facebook page and Twitter feed by barraging with unsolicited criticism.
Yes, the Moto X next-generation is a beautiful device, but at Rs 32,000 Motorola is definitely charging a premium from consumers in a market like India.
